VoiceThread is a complete web-based online application that allows the user to place connections of media like videos, images, documents and many more and share them to various users creating conversations when viewers can then add comments. This platform is very beneficial for academic purposes, it can be used for group presentations and such. To illustrate; presentation completed through VoiceThread would be more efficient compared to competing softwares such as Powerpoint. VoiceThread, students can work at the same time and add comments and share ideas on the slide in a matter of seconds. Furthermore, users also get the option to add comments through voice command, and this save so much time. You can share you presentation through VoiceThread through various social networks such as Twitter and Blogger. Personally when I think about the overall concept and use of this platform, I wouldn't add this to my PLE diagram, because I can not really relate to most of the features the software offers. I feel more comfortable with softwares such as Powerpoint as it is very user-friendly and no login information is needed. If I were to add this tool to my PLE, it would be included under the sub category Collaborative, as users can view other peoples ideas and comment and share ideas. VoiceThread is a perfect tool for teachers and instructors to use in a classroom environment. Various businesses can also use this tool to promote and market whatever it is that they are selling. In general, VoiceThread is a great tool for anyone to use to share ideas and communicate effortlessly.
